Rights. The writings of Ignatius of Loyola (1491–1556) and of the early Society are
long out of copyright; the modern
translations are mostly not. This site ships four full texts: the book of the Spiritual
Exercises in a public-domain parallel edition (Spanish Autograph and Latin Vulgata of 1548 from the
Madrid 1919 Monumenta Ignatiana , with Elder Mullan's 1914 English translation); Letters and
Instructions , vol. I, translated by D. F. O'Leary (1914), which is in the public domain; the
Official Directory of 1599 in its original Latin from the same 1919 volume, accompanied by
W. H. Longridge's public-domain English translation of 1919 and by an unofficial machine-generated
working translation made for this site directly from that Latin; and the Memoriale of
Blessed Peter Faber in the Latin of the editio princeps (Paris, 1873), likewise with an unofficial
working translation. Longridge's 1919 commentary on the
Exercises, with his Additional Notes, is included as a switchable layer of the trilingual reader. For the
four in-copyright translations it ships no running text at all, but only derived data: canonical citation
anchors, counts, registers and networks, together with editorial matter written for this site. Their full-text
functions operate solely on a copy you load into your own browser, which is never uploaded.
